COLOMBO (News 1st) - The official door-to-door distribution of ballot papers for the upcoming local government elections begins today.
April 27 has been designated a special day for ballot paper distribution.
Postmaster General Ruwan Sathkumara says that the distribution of ballot papers is expected to be completed by April 29.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission confirmed that distribution of ballot papers for postal voting will be completed by April 21.
Chairman of the Election Commission, R. M. A. L. Ratnayake, noted that in the event of a court ruling pertaining to a specific local government body, the distribution of postal ballots in that area will be delayed.
So far, ballot papers for postal voting have been distributed to 227 local government institutions, with the remaining 112 expected to receive theirs by April 21.
