Modi and AKD Launch Railway Upgrades in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st) - In a move to boost connectivity and enhance bilateral friendship, Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi jointly inaugurated the track upgradation of the existing Maho-Omanthai railway line in Anuradhapura.

The leaders also launched the signalling project, which involves the installation of an advanced signalling and telecommunication system along the Maho-Anuradhapura section.

These projects are part of India's ongoing support for Sri Lanka's development journey, reflecting the strong partnership and commitment to mutual growth and prosperity. The upgraded railway infrastructure is expected to improve transportation efficiency, safety, and reliability, benefiting both countries' economic and social landscapes.
