COLOMBO (News 1st) - In an effort to alleviate the increased cost of living, the Sri Lankan government has announced the provision of concessionary 'Seasonal Food Packages' during the upcoming New Year period.
This initiative aims to support citizens by offering essential food items at affordable prices, as announced by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his 2025 Budget speech.
The government has proposed to distribute Dry Food Rations, which will include rice, canned fish, dhal, onions, potatoes, and dried fish, at concessionary rates through Lanka Sathosa Ltd.
To finance this initiative, the government has allocated Rs. 1,000 million.
