COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his budget speech emphasized the collective responsibility of various stakeholders in ensuring effective tax collection and compliance.

He highlighted that it is not only the tax collection authorities who bear this responsibility but also audit firms and tax accountants. These professionals must discharge their duties in a socially responsible manner to ensure that the Government receives its due tax revenue.

The President assured that appropriate measures will be taken to ensure compliance with the regulatory and legal framework.

He expressed confidence that the enhanced tax administration and compliance measures will enable Sri Lanka to surpass its revenue targets beyond 2025. This, in turn, will allow the Government to provide further relief to the public without jeopardizing fiscal and economic stability.
