2025 Budget: MPs Lose Vehicle Permits, Luxury Govt Cars to be Auctioned

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced during the presentation of the 2025 budget that Members of Parliament will not be issued vehicle permits for this year.

He also said that all luxury vehicles that require heavy running & maintenance expenses will be 

auctioned. 

"Vehicles assigned as official vehicles to Government officials have high fuel consumption and are of significant value. These vehicles incur high maintenance costs. Hence, the Government has decided to minimize heavy expenditure on vehicles by encouraging selected officers through an additional financial benefit," said Dissanayake.
